Quantum computers promise to reshape industrial technologies and cryptography through their exceptional computational power. However, realising this potential requires strict isolation from environmental disturbances, as external perturbations can undermine quantum advantage and introduce errors. The QSolid consortium aims to build a quantum computer with reduced error rates.
Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, the project seeks to develop a system with up to 30 high-quality qubits and improved reliability. Bringing together 25 leading institutions and companies, QSolid fosters a national supply chain, supports application testing, and develops industry benchmarks, unlocking advances in materials science, drug discovery, and traffic optimisation.
