The ESTEP Annual Event 2026 – Paving the Future of EU Steel: Clean Technologies, Smart Steel Products and Applications will take place from 20–22 October 2026 in Ghent, Belgium, bringing together researchers, engineers, industry professionals and innovators from across Europe’s steel ecosystem.
The event will showcase the latest developments in steel research and innovation, with a particular focus on industrial decarbonisation, circularity, digitalisation and advanced steel applications. Topics will range from high-performance steels for renewable energy and hydrogen infrastructure to predictive modelling, digital metallurgy, advanced manufacturing and low-CO₂ steel production.
The programme will also explore clean steel processes such as hydrogen-based steelmaking and electrification, alongside circular approaches including reuse, high-purity recycling, traceability and recovery-ready product design.
For the Industrial Technologies community, the event provides an opportunity to exchange knowledge and explore how research and innovation can contribute to a more sustainable, resource-efficient and competitive European steel sector.
The ESTEP Annual Event will be held at RodeBol events – CommunicationCampus in Ghent, with an optional visit to the ArcelorMittal Ghent plant on 20 October.
