Urologic cancers (prostate and kidney cancer) are among Europe’s most common diseases, and early detection is key to treatment success. Current diagnostic methods, unable to analyse the vast amounts of multimodal health data, are imprecise and lead to frequent over- and underdiagnoses. AI models have the potential to improve diagnosis by quickly and accurately processing all available patient data.
COMFORT is developing a trustworthy AI decision support system that integrates imaging data, health records and biomarker profiles to help doctors accurately diagnose tumours, stratify patients and plan treatment for urologic cancers. By blending data from multiple sources, avoiding bias and making the AI’s decision process transparent, the system aims to increase patients’ trust in AI-powered clinical support tools. Tested in real clinical settings in several European countries, COMFORT is creating a more personalised and reliable approach to urologic cancer care.
