Advanced therapies are opening new possibilities for treating diseases that remain difficult to address with conventional approaches. From cell and gene therapies to tissue-engineered products, Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) are among the most innovative areas of modern medicine. Translating these advances from research into clinical practice, however, requires collaboration across disciplines and different stages of the innovation pathway.
Within the EURICE Group Health Innovation Ecosystem, several European research and innovation projects are contributing to this development. Initiatives such as JOIN4ATMP and S.O.L.A.R.I.S. bring together complementary expertise to address challenges in the development, manufacturing and translation of advanced therapies.
These projects reflect two of the Health Innovation Ecosystem's strategic focus areas: Advanced & Personalised Therapies and ATMPs & Regenerative Technologies. They also illustrate the importance of connecting scientific advances with the expertise, infrastructures and innovation pathways needed to bring new therapeutic approaches closer to patients.
But the future of advanced therapies is not only a conversation for experts. Making their potential and challenges accessible to wider audiences is equally important for connecting research and innovation with society.
Against this background, EURICE is taking part in Berlin Science Week 2026 with the public panel discussion “How Could New Therapies Change Your Future?”, taking place on 5 November at the EURICE premises in Berlin.
The event brings together Prof. Dr Annette Künkele-Langer from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, coordinator of JOIN4ATMP; Dr Katharina Günther from Green Elephant Biotech GmbH, partner in S.O.L.A.R.I.S.; and Dr Alexander Stumpf from SPARK-BIH. Their backgrounds in clinical research, biotechnology and technology transfer offer complementary perspectives on the journey from scientific discovery towards new therapeutic applications.
By bringing together expertise from European research projects, the regional innovation community and public dialogue, the event reflects the collaborative approach at the heart of the Health Innovation Ecosystem.
