As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of this important day in 2026, this year’s campaign focuses on “Advancing Cancer Research Together”, emphasising the collaboration needed to turn scientific advances into meaningful progress for those affected by cancer.
Within the EURICE Group Health Innovation Ecosystem, research and innovation projects are contributing to this effort at various stages of the cancer research and care pathway. Projects such as NuCapCure, SCALPEL and InnoCAR-T are investigating innovative therapeutic approaches, including advanced radiotherapy, light-activated technologies and next-generation CAR-T immunotherapy. Their work aims to develop more targeted and effective ways of treating different forms of cancer.
Meanwhile, COMFORT, METASTRA and TWIN-X are exploring how artificial intelligence, computational modelling and health data can support more personalised clinical decisions. Their research covers areas including prostate and kidney cancer, vertebral metastases and the development of digital twins for oncology.
Research also extends beyond treating the tumour itself. For example, GreenNanoBone, is developing regenerative approaches that could help address bone damage associated with cancer and its treatment, thereby contributing to recovery and quality of life.
Together, these projects demonstrate how progress in cancer research draws on expertise from various disciplines, technologies and stages of care. Collaboration across research, clinical practice, technology and patient perspectives is essential to advance cancer research and ultimately improve outcomes for patients, from developing new therapies to supporting personalised treatment decisions and recovery.
